Look Past The Outward Appearance

1 Samuel 16:6-8

Amplified Bible

6 So it happened, when they had come, he looked at Eliab [the eldest son] and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him.” 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks [a]at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass before Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.”

When I look at the story of David, I see a man of resilience and perseverance. I see a strong man who pushed past what people saw and focused on what God was saying. Many people say that David did not look like a king, but that was false. David did look like God’s King because we are made into his image.

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. – Genesis 1:27

David did not look like the King that the people wanted and God was okay with that. That is what I truly love about God, is that he does not care if the people don’t want someone or something because God knows the final say. Ask yourself this question… how many people do you know that EVERYONE validated and promoted that they were the next big thing and NOTHING happened to them? They were NOT the next big thing and they were NOT successful. Because that is how human nature is. You may feel rejected but so was David and historically he is the GREATEST KING OF ISRAEL. Rejection comes with the cost of the anointing. Rejection is the burden and cross that we carry as the next generation. Because if Jesus was rejected then so will you be. So, when you face rejection remember these scriptures.

Philippians 4:13

New International Version – 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Isaiah 40:31

King James Version –31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

King James Version – 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

So today do not be discouraged and do not be concerned that other people are focusing on the outward appearance. Instead focus on God and by the power of his might you will succeed and you will be blessed. In Jesus Name. Amen.
